MEDICAL NUTRITION THERAPY

Identify, explore, and challenge distorted beliefs and fears about food and your body so you can resolve your relationship with them.

Through evidence-based science, provide an understanding of what your body needs, why, and what happens if it doesn't get it.

Work with you to optimize your body's natural state of health and wellbeing.

The multidisciplinary team approach is widely recognized as the best practice. With your permission, I will consult and coordinate care with your other providers, or can help you find them if needed.
I am a Registered Dietitian and Certified Eating Disorder Specialist providing weight-inclusive, non-diet nutrition therapy in Marin County, California. My approach is grounded in Health at Every Size®, Intuitive Eating, and trauma-informed care.
I have extensive experience across all levels of care—including inpatient, partial hospitalization, intensive outpatient, and outpatient—and bring that clinical foundation into a warm, calm, and deeply supportive outpatient practice.
I have completed Evelyn Tribole’s Intuitive Eating PRO — Skills Development Course, advanced training that shapes my work helping clients rebuild trust with their bodies and develop a more peaceful, intuitive relationship with food.
Clients describe me as grounding, patient, and deeply compassionate. I strive to meet every individual with respect, attunement, and a belief in their capacity for healing. Together, we work toward recovery that honors your body’s wisdom, supports your emotional wellbeing, and fosters lasting freedom from disordered eating.

INITIAL CONSULTATION
Reaching out for help is a powerful first step. Before beginning treatment, we’ll schedule a brief phone consultation to determine whether we’re a good fit and to answer initial questions.
If we decide to move forward, we will schedule a 75-minute Initial Nutrition Assessment.
INITIAL NUTRITION ASSESSMENT
Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another. We’ll explore your medical and nutrition history, your lived experience with food and body image, and what brought you to this work.
Together, we’ll identify initial goals and discuss tools and strategies that support your healing. My intention is for you to feel safe, heard, and supported from the very beginning.
FOLLOW-UP VISITS
Follow-up sessions last 50 minutes and are tailored to your needs. We may work within the following three pillars of Nutrition Therapy:
(Weight-Inclusive & HAES-Informed)
Our counseling work is collaborative and grounded in compassion.
Together, we may explore:
This is never about controlling your eating—it’s about restoring safety, connection, and confidence.
(Weight-Inclusive & Non-Diet)
Education is offered gently and collaboratively. Topics may include:
Education is never presented as a set of rules—it’s offered as support, clarity, and empowerment.
Medical Nutrition Therapy may include:
This work is always weight-inclusive and centered on your unique healing process.
Eating disorder treatment is most effective when care is collaborative.
With your permission, I communicate regularly with your therapist, physician, psychiatrist, or other care providers. If you do not yet have a full team, I can help you find one that meets your needs.
Family involvement is a strong predictor of recovery, especially for adolescents and young adults.
I provide education, guidance, and support to help families understand the illness, recognize signs of progress or relapse, and build the skills needed to support their loved one.
Family participation may include nutrition education, meal planning guidance, and ongoing collaboration throughout treatment.
Please reach us at info@alknutrition.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.
I am currently an out-of-network provider. I’m happy to provide a superbill for reimbursement if your insurance plan allows. Please reach out to discuss your specific coverage.
Yes. Family involvement is encouraged whenever appropriate, as it is a strong predictor of recovery—especially for adolescents and young adults.
Length of care varies depending on individual needs. Many clients benefit from consistent support over time, especially when working toward full recovery.
You don’t need a diagnosis to receive support. Many clients come in feeling unsure, confused, or concerned about their relationship with food. We can explore this together at your pace.
